By Lod Onyeji
In a heartfelt ceremony, the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) bid farewell to its outgoing Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Issa Sulaiman, as he prepares to assume a new role at the Apapa Area Command. The event was a testament to Sulaiman's dedication, professionalism, and humility, which have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, sister agencies, and the media.
Comptroller Wale Adenuga, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Seme Command, praised Sulaiman's exceptional service, stating, "I will truly miss you, and I have enjoyed working with you. You will attain greater heights and excel." Adenuga credited Sulaiman with making his job easier, describing him as an embodiment of humility and one of the best PROs in the entire Customs Service.
Sulaiman's contributions to the command were evident in his ability to foster mutual respect in inter-agency relations, making him an exemplary image maker and a model Customs officer. His exceptional accessibility, professionalism, and job expertise had made him a 'journalist's delight,' with media representatives vowing to maintain a warm and productive working relationship with him in his new posting.
The send-forth ceremony was also an opportunity to celebrate the retirement of Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime, Head of the Scanning Unit, who was praised for "finishing well" after years of dedicated service. Speakers assured Edime that retirement does not mark the end of service to the nation, and that his wealth of experience would continue to contribute to the Nigeria Customs and the country at large.
In his farewell speech, Sulaiman expressed gratitude to God, the Service, and his colleagues for the opportunity to serve. He credited Comptroller Adenuga with laying the foundation for his success at the Seme Command, stating, "The Service provided me with the platform to serve the country, a responsibility I pledge to continue to discharge to the best of my ability."
Sulaiman's departure is a testament to his legacy of excellence, humility, and dedication to duty. As he assumes his new role, he leaves behind a command that is stronger, more united, and more professional, thanks to his tireless efforts.
