In a significant breakthrough, the Osun State Police Command has apprehended three suspects in connection with a string of armed robbery and murder cases that have sent shockwaves throughout the state.
The suspects, identified as Olabode Owoeye (aka Bode Itaapa), 32, Mukaila Lateef, 45, and David Samuel, 26, were paraded at the Osun State Police headquarters on Friday. According to the Command's Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the trio was involved in the abduction and killing of two individuals, Kelechi Agha and Tega Robinson, who were reported missing by their families on February 8, 2024.
Investigations led to the recovery of several exhibits, including a locally made barreta pistol, a single barrel gun, a pump action gun, and a black unregistered Highlander Jeep. Olabode Owoeye, a confessed member of the Aye confraternity, implicated other members of the group in the crime, including their involvement in the attack on a political candidate, Honourable Ayodeji Olaolu, during the 2023 election.
The police are still searching for fleeing members of the group and have recovered several weapons, including pump action rifles. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
This bust is a significant achievement for the Osun State Police Command, and their efforts to crack down on criminal activity in the state are commendable. As the investigation continues, it is clear that this syndicate's reign of terror is coming to an end.
