In a historic bust, the Lagos Free Trade Zone Customs Command has intercepted two containers of Tramadol worth N9.725 billion, marking the largest seizure since its inception. Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh revealed the details during a media briefing at Lekki Deep Sea Port.
The seized containers, imported from Pakistan, held over 500 cartons of Tramadol tablets. This comes just a month after a previous interception. Olumoh emphasized the dangers of illicit drug importation and urged stakeholders to collaborate in fighting this menace.
The Customs Command handed over the seized items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), reaffirming its commitment to promoting legitimate trade and preventing illicit activities.
The command has also reported impressive revenue performance, collecting N278.784 billion between January and October 2024.
