Nigeria Customs Service's Zone 'C' Unit Achieves Stellar Performance in Anti-Smuggling and Community Development

The Federal Operations Unit, Zone 'C' of the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller Michael Ugbagu, has made remarkable strides in anti-smuggling efforts and community development initiatives. Between October 7th and November 6th, 2024, the unit intercepted contrabands worth N126.7 million, showcasing their unwavering commitment to curbing smuggling activities.

Anti-Smuggling Achievements:

Tramadol Bust: Seized 5,189 sachets of various brands of tramadol

Other Seized Goods: Second-hand clothing, foreign macaroni, used pneumatic tyres, premium motor spirit, foreign smuggled rice, used compressors, and cannabis sativa

But that's not all. The unit has also made significant contributions to community development, demonstrating their dedication to improving the lives of citizens.

Community Development Initiatives:

Free Medical Outreach: Organized a two-day outreach in Irete, providing essential health services such as BP checkup, sugar test, eye checkup, and free medicated glasses.

Solar-Powered Boreholes: Completed two boreholes with 10,000 water storage tanks in Irete and Ibaka communities, ensuring access to potable water

The Nigeria Customs Service has been working tirelessly to promote trade facilitation, revenue collection, and societal protection under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. With achievements like these, it's clear that the service is making a tangible impact on the nation's economy and citizens' lives.
