PTML Customs Command Achieves Record-Breaking Revenue Collection
By Lod Onyeji
The Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a significant milestone in revenue collection. According to Comptroller Tenny Daniyan, the command's revenue has increased substantially, with a record-breaking collection of N44.9 billion in November 2024.
This achievement is attributed to the success of the new customs trading platform, B'Odogwu, which was launched as a pilot project in the PTML Command. The platform has not only increased revenue but also facilitated trade, with the command processing cargoes manually and establishing an interface with the terminal operator to accommodate port users.
Comptroller Daniyan emphasized that the command is committed to getting it right, with a turnaround time of two hours for properly declared Roll-on-Roll-off (RoRo) cargo. He also assured that national security and revenue will not be compromised for the sake of trade facilitation.
The command has also made significant progress in addressing challenges faced by agents, with over 98 people paying their duties under the B'Odogwu platform as more banks come on board. Additionally, the command has captured 292 bills of lading in November, with 375 yet to be captured.
As the PTML Command continues to break records, it's clear that the implementation of the B'Odogwu platform is a significant step towards increasing revenue collection and facilitating trade in Nigeria.
