Tin Can Island Port Command Wins Dual Honors at CGC Awards Night

In a remarkable display of excellence, the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, led by Area Comptroller Dera Nnadi, mni, has been recognized with two prestigious awards at the CGC Awards Night ceremony held on November 29, 2024, in Abuja ¹.
Comptroller Nnadi was celebrated by colleagues and stakeholders for his distinctive performance and workplace transformation, earning him the "Winner CGC's Special Award For Work Place Transformation" and "In Recognition of your Distinctive Performance and Commitment to the Ideas and Vision of the Nigeria Customs Service" awards.
The awards, presented by Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, acknowledged the command's achievements in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and innovative solutions. Notably, the command generated N1.2 trillion in revenue as of November 2024 and successfully remodeled the Tin Can Island Port command administrative building, which was built over 40 years ago ¹.
Comptroller Nnadi attributed the command's successes to teamwork, commitment, focus, and dedication. He expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs for the support and honor bestowed upon him and called for continuous support from all stakeholders.
The awards serve as a motivation and challenge for the command to sustain and improve its performance. Comptroller Nnadi urged business leaders at the Tin Can Island port to leverage the Trade Modernization Project initiatives to enhance trade facilitation and adopt paperless procedures ¹.
