Alleged Plans for 2027 Presidential Election Spark Controversy

 By Lod Onyeji

A recent report has surfaced suggesting that five governors of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) are planning to team up with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to support a Nasir el-Rufai/Peter Obi ticket in the 2027 Presidential Election. This alleged plan aims to dismantle the PDP and prevent it from posing a threat to the el-Rufai/Obi ticket.

According to sources, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is spearheading the five governors, reportedly due to his soured relationship with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri is also expected to play a significant role in the alleged plan.

The motivations behind this plan are multifaceted. Atiku Abubakar is reportedly seeking to prevent the PDP from becoming a threat to the el-Rufai/Obi ticket. Meanwhile, Nasir el-Rufai is aiming to become the presidential candidate, potentially with Peter Obi as his running mate.

The implications of this alleged plan are far-reaching. If successful, it could lead to the fragmentation of the PDP, making it weaker in the 2027 Presidential Election. On the other hand, the el-Rufai/Obi ticket may gain momentum, potentially becoming a strong contender in the 2027 election.

The outcome of this alleged plan could significantly impact Nigeria's political landscape, potentially leading to a shift in power dynamics. As the 2027 presidential election approaches, all eyes will be on the developments in this unfolding story.

In related news, the Obidient Movement has urged Peter Obi not to give up on his presidential ambitions, with the Anambra State Chapter of the movement reaffirming their commitment to Obi's quest for the presidency.
