CONMMEP Lauds Comptroller Onyeka's Leadership During Courtesy Visit

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) paid a courtesy visit to Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, Customs Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Port Command, Nigeria Customs Service. Led by President Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, the nine-member executive committee engaged in discussions on revenue generation, security compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
CONMMEP praised Comptroller Onyeka's impressive performance as a valuation officer and his achievements as Officer-in-Charge at the gate of the Premier Port Command in Apapa. They commended the collective efforts of the Command's officers in Tin Can Island Port, noting a record revenue generation of ₦347,935,672,476.00 in the first quarter of 2025, surpassing the ₦304,000,000,000.00 generated in the corresponding period of 2024.
CONMMEP went on to express her readiness to support the CAC in progressive strategies, including:
- Revenue Generation: Enhancing revenue collection and management.
- Security Compliance: Strengthening security measures to prevent circumventing trade rules and fraud.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Fostering collaboration with stakeholders to promote trade facilitation.
- Process Efficiency: Streamlining processes to improve operational effectiveness.
- Leadership and Team Management: Developing leadership and team management capabilities.
- Innovation and Adaptation: Embracing innovative solutions to stay ahead of emerging challenges.
- Community Relations: Building strong relationships with local communities.
CONMMEP discussed some of her recent projects, such as a workshop on "Port Community Engagement, Building Sustainable Development." The recently conducted free and fair elections that would usher in the new executives at the AGM. They also mentioned the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) and solicited the Command's support for a proposed training program.
Responding, Comptroller Onyeka thanked CONMMEP for the visit and promised support for the association. He praised their professional conduct and encouraged them to continue promoting the Command's functions while pledging his readiness to key into any vibrant idea that would impact positively on the Command and Service at large.
Conclusively the meeting strengthened the relationship between CONMMEP and the Tin Can Island Port Command, with both parties expressing commitment to collaboration and mutual support. This development aligns with the Nigeria Customs Service's policy thrust of collaboration, consultation, and innovation, as seen in the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
