Apapa Customs Command Hits N1 Trillion Revenue Milestone

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a remarkable milestone, collecting over N1 trillion in revenue in less than five months. This landmark achievement is a testament to the Command's dedication to excellence and its commitment to supporting the nation's economic growth.

Under the leadership of Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the Command has demonstrated exceptional performance, surpassing its revenue targets and solidifying its position as a leader in the NCS. The revenue collection, which totals N1,002,968,178,694.07, is a significant achievement that highlights the Command's ability to drive growth and development.

Comptroller Olomu attributed the success to a combination of factors, including effective leadership, blocking revenue leakages, and the diligent discharge of functions by officers and men in the Command. He emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, robust interactions, and cooperation with sister government agencies and stakeholders to achieve more and contribute to the nation's economic well-being.

The Command's adoption of the Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu) has also shown promising results, with plans for further training of licensed Customs agents and freight forwarders to enhance productivity. Comptroller Olomu expressed confidence that the Command's chances of surpassing 2024 collection and meeting 2025 targets are higher.

The Command's award-winning reputation remains unshaken, with recent recognition for revenue collection, including the CGC Award of Excellence. Comptroller Olomu emerged 'Best Controller of the Year' for his exceptional leadership and improving the Command's capacity to deliver on its mandates.

The Command's achievement is a testament to its commitment to excellence and its role in supporting the nation's economic growth. As Comptroller Olomu noted, "Our award-winning reputation remains unshaken as we intensify efforts to maintain our excellent record as the leading customs command domiciled in the nation’s premier port."
