Nigeria Customs Service Makes Significant Seizures in Apapa

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has y a major breakthrough in its efforts to combat smuggling and importation of prohibited goods. In a recent press briefing, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller B.O. Olomu, PhD, announced the seizure of six containers loaded with unregistered pharmaceuticals, used clothing, cosmetics, and two stolen luxury vehicles, valued at over N3.2 billion.
The seizures were made possible through strategic enforcement efforts and collaboration with sister agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The containers were intercepted at the Apapa Port, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and destination of the seized items.
Comptroller Olomu reiterated the NCS's commitment to protecting Nigerians from harmful goods and facilitating legitimate trade. He emphasized that the command will not compromise on compliance with import regulations and warned that smugglers will be stopped.
The NDLEA's Assistant Commander General Narcotics, Buba Wakawa, praised the collaboration between the NCS and sister agencies, highlighting the effectiveness of international and local partnerships in combating smuggling.
The Apapa Command's seizure of prohibited goods worth over N3.2 billion demonstrates the NCS's resolve to rid the ports of illegal imports and strengthen border control measures.
