Nigeria Customs Service to Establish Dedicated Command at Snake Island Integrated Free Zone

The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has announced plans to establish a new Customs Area Command at the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (SIIFZ), following an official visit to the facility on April 30, 2025.

Enhanced Regulatory Presence

Adeniyi expressed enthusiasm for the level of investment at the facility and commended Nigerdock, the operators of SIIFZ, for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. He emphasized the importance of synergy between Customs and private sector operators in driving national economic goals.

Strategic Partnership

The CGC highlighted the benefits of a dedicated Command at SIIFZ, stating, "We are finalizing all the documentation, and I am very sure that by the next time I visit this place, I'll be received by a Customs Area Controller." This development is expected to enhance operations and strengthen regulatory presence.

Collaborative Efforts

The Managing Director of SIIFZ, Semiu Akorede, appreciated the NCS's support and highlighted the significance of the visit to the zone's operational growth. "Your coming here today is going to add a lot of value... We have been working together without any rancour," he stated.

Seamless Operations

Akorede emphasized the importance of consolidating activities to ensure seamless operations, noting that the dedicated Command would facilitate this process. The NCS's decision to establish a dedicated Command at SIIFZ underscores its commitment to fostering a symbiotic relationship with private sector operators and driving national economic goals.
