Comptroller Otunla Cracks Down on Smuggling, Seizes N344.8 Million Worth of Prohibited Items

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has made significant strides in combating smuggling and promoting economic stability under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR. The Ogun I Area Command led by Comptroller Otunla has recorded remarkable successes, intercepting and seizing large quantities of prohibited items worth N344,853,244.

*A Boost to National Security and Revenue Generation*

The seizures include 1,037 parcels of cannabis sativa, 2 units of dane guns, 88 rounds of live cartridges, 13,125 liters of premium motor spirit (PMS), and 2,627 bags of foreign parboiled rice. These seizures are particularly significant, given their far-reaching impact on public health and national security. The NCS's efforts to combat smuggling and promote legitimate trade have also contributed to economic stability and revenue generation, with the command recording a significant increase in revenue generation from N10,621,250 to N42,279,240.
