The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) recently convened a high-level stakeholder engagement, bringing together media professionals, maritime stakeholders, policymakers, and development advocates to explore strategic pathways for enhancing Nigeria's maritime sector. The event, themed "Empowering Trade, Enhancing Growth," featured Chief Ambassador Dr. Afam Chukwuma as the distinguished guest.

In his keynote address, Dr. Chukwuma emphasized the critical role of trade empowerment in fostering sustainable national growth. Drawing on his extensive experience in international diplomacy, economic development, and maritime strategy, he outlined a comprehensive blueprint for revitalizing Nigeria's trade corridors. The proposed measures include policy reform, infrastructure development, and public-private collaboration, with a focus on modernizing port operations, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and embracing digital innovation.

The discussion highlighted the significance of empowering trade as a national imperative tied directly to job creation, poverty alleviation, and regional competitiveness. Interactive sessions raised critical questions surrounding port efficiency, maritime security, and the need for a stronger media-government partnership in promoting trade literacy.

Through this engagement, CONMMEP reaffirmed its commitment to advocating policies and narratives that support a thriving maritime economy.
