New Leadership at Eastern Marine Command

Comptroller AB Jaja has taken over as the new Controller of the Eastern Marine Command, Nigeria Customs Service, assuring legitimate traders of his commitment to facilitating trade and collaboration.

Facilitating Legitimate Business

At his inaugural press briefing, Jaja stated, "We are not here to stop anybody from doing his legitimate business." He emphasized his willingness to work with stakeholders to enhance trade, generate revenue, and combat smuggling.

Building on Predecessor's Success

Jaja pledged to leverage on the policies and innovations introduced by his predecessor, ACG CC Dim, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General and redeployed to Abuja. He noted that Dim's leadership had brought significant improvements to the command.

Key Priorities

The new Controller outlined his key priorities, including:

- Facilitating trade and fostering collaboration with stakeholders

- Generating revenue and combating smuggling

- Keeping borders safe and protecting government infrastructure

- Sustaining the Work-Life Balance initiative introduced by his predecessor

New Initiatives

Jaja also announced plans to establish a Customs Marine Unit at Bonny to enhance coverage of riverine areas. He expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs for the opportunity to serve and vowed to contribute to the upliftment of the Nigeria Customs Service.
