Comptroller Aliyu M Alkali has taken over as the 26th Customs Area Controller of Area II Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. During the handover ceremony, Alkali pledged to ensure compliance with trade regulations, facilitate legitimate trade, collect revenue for the federal government, and ensure public safety.
A Commitment to Collaboration
Alkali emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration among stakeholders to sustain the Command's efforts in trade facilitation, revenue generation, prevention of economic sabotage, and public safety. He also assured stakeholders of his commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessor, ACG Mohammed Babandede.

The outgoing Customs Area Controller, ACG Mohammed Babandede, was praised for his dedication, vision, and resilience during his tenure. The Zonal Coordinator, Zone C, ACG Kamal Mohammed, noted that Babandede's leadership left an indelible mark on the Command's history and wished him continued success.
A New Chapter
The handover ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Command, with Alkali at the helm. ACG Kamal Mohammed expressed confidence in Alkali's ability to steer the Command to greater heights and implored him to build on the solid legacies left behind by his predecessor while bringing in fresh ideas and innovations.

The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including the Customs Area Controller of Port Harcourt I Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, heads of security and regulatory agencies, terminal operators, freight forwarders, and other industry players.
