Nigeria Customs Service At PTML Command Hands Over N200m Worth of Fake Drugs to NAFDAC

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Customs Command, has handed over fake drugs worth N200 million to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The fake drugs, meant for treating high blood pressure and antibiotics, were intercepted in two containers with a total duty-paid value of N200 million.

Key Highlights:

- Seized Drugs: The fake drugs include high blood pressure medication and antibiotics worth N200 million.

- Containers' Details: Two containers, one 40-foot and one 20-foot, were intercepted with false declarations.

- Revenue Generation: The PTML Customs Command has generated N350.3 billion in revenue from January to September 2025, representing a 96.4% increase from the previous year.

NAFDAC's Response:

The Director of Port Inspection Directorate at NAFDAC, Dr. Olakunle Olaniran, commended the Nigeria Customs Service for their vigilance in intercepting the fake drugs. He warned Nigerians to patronize licensed pharmacies and pharmacists to avoid counterfeit products.

Customs' Commitment: The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joe Anani, reaffirmed the Command's commitment to enforcing national security and trade regulations. He highlighted the Command's achievements in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts.
