Tin Can Island Port Command Enhances Senior Officers' Capabilities with In-House Training

The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recently concluded a comprehensive in-house training program for senior officers, aimed at strengthening core competencies and operational efficiency. The week-long training, held from October 13 to 17, 2025, brought together officers from various units and departments.

Investing in Professional Growth: Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Customs Area Controller, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and capacity development, encouraging officers to apply the knowledge gained to their daily responsibilities. He noted that the training is an investment in the growth of the personnel, rather than a routine exercise.

Practical Insights and Enhanced Capabilities: Resource persons from within the Command covered key topics, including Physical Examination, Reputation Management, Risk Management, and Customs Procedure Codes. Participants appreciated the quality and depth of the sessions, highlighting the practical nature of the training and its potential to positively influence their day-to-day responsibilities.

A Commitment to Excellence: Comptroller Onyeka reaffirmed the Command's commitment to building a highly skilled and proactive workforce capable of meeting modern customs operations' dynamic challenges. Officers' Feedback: Assistant Controller Rose Bonat of the Transire Unit praised the Command for the "laudable and forward-thinking initiative," noting that the training broadened her understanding and equipped her with tools directly applicable to her role.
