Apapa Customs Sees 24.32% Revenue Surge in 2025
By Lod Onyeji
The Nigeria Customs Service, through the premier Apapa Area Port Command has achieved a remarkable revenue milestone, enviably soaring high in generating ₦2.93 trillion in 2025, a 24.32% increase from ₦2.357 trillion in 2024. This impressive growth solidifies Apapa Command's position as Nigeria's leading revenue hub.
Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba attributes this success to effective leadership, disciplined manpower, and strategic technology deployment under Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi's guidance. The Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), also known as B’Odogwu, played a significant role in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in cargo clearance processes. These were made known to the Press through a Press Release by the Command's Public Relations Officer, CSC Isah Sulaiman.
*Key Drivers of Success:*
- *Technology Integration*: UCMS (B’Odogwu) improved cargo clearance efficiency and transparency
- *Trade Facilitation*: Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and One-Stop Shop (OSS) initiative streamlined compliant cargo processing
- *Enforcement*: Intercepted 53 containers with illicit drugs and prohibited items, valued at ₦12.63 billion
Futuristically, Comptroller Oshoba is optimistic about achieving greater revenue milestones in 2026, driven by deeper implementation of B’Odogwu, AEO, and OSS, expanded collaboration with sister agencies and dedicated diligence and men and officers of the Command.
