By Lod Onyeji
The initiative, in line with the Customs Comptroller-General's vision, seeks to foster a healthier and more physically and mentally fit workforce. "A healthy officer is a productive officer," Afeni emphasized, stressing that the demands of Customs work require a deliberate commitment to health.
The weekly exercise, to be observed every Thursday, will include jogging, aerobics, football, and volleyball. Afeni urged officers to embrace fitness as a core component of their professional lives, adding that it will promote teamwork, reduce stress, and boost morale.
"A fit team is a formidable team," Afeni said, reaffirming the command's commitment to officers' welfare. The initiative is part of Afeni's efforts to revamp the command, focusing on anti-smuggling efforts, revenue generation, staff welfare, and community relations.
