SEREC Commends NSC Board Inauguration, Urges CRFFN Council Constitution

By Lod Onyeji

The Sea Empowerment and Research Center (SEREC) praises President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, for inaugurating the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Governing Board. This move reinforces institutional governance and regulatory accountability in Nigeria's maritime sector.

However, SEREC urges the Federal Government to constitute the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding Practice in Nigeria (CRFFN) Governing Council, which has been lacking since 2023. The absence of this council undermines regulatory consistency and hinders trade facilitation.

SEREC emphasizes that effective governance is crucial for regulatory institutions to deliver on their mandates. Constituting the CRFFN Governing Council will enhance trade facilitation, support the Marine and Blue Economy, and reinforce confidence in Nigeria's maritime sector reforms. Commends NSC Board Inauguration, Urges CRFFN Council Constitution*
