By Lod Onyeji

The Area Controller of Tin Can Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has expressed gratitude to the media for their positive reportage, saying it has contributed significantly to the command's success in trade facilitation.

Onyeka, dubbed "Mr. Trade Enabler", emphasized that the command's consistent efforts to facilitate trade have earned it a reputation as a reliable and efficient partner in the logistics chain. He praised the media for practicing responsible journalism, saying their coverage has helped promote the command's image and initiatives.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is leading reforms to enhance trade facilitation and revenue collection through digital transformation. Onyeka's command is a key player in this effort, prioritizing "collectible revenue" over "maximum revenue" and engaging with government agencies for faster clearance timelines.

The Nigeria Customs Service is introducing a paperless system to improve efficiency, reduce congestion, and enhance national security. With this system, clearance time for goods is expected to be reduced to 48 hours or less.

Onyeka's remarks highlight the importance of collaboration between government agencies and the media in promoting economic growth and development. The Tin Can Island Port Command is poised to become a model for Customs operations nationwide and worldwide.
