Safeguarding Nigeria's Trade Future: Anti-Corruption Group Tackles NSW Risks
By Lod Onyeji
The Media Anti-Corruption Initiatives (MACI) is set to host a landmark seminar aimed at ensuring the success of Nigeria's National Single Window (NSW), a flagship trade facilitation project. The one-day event, scheduled for April 15, 2026, at Rockview Hotel, Apapa GRA, Lagos, will bring together policymakers, regulators, and private sector leaders to discuss strategies for effective NSW implementation. ¹
The NSW aims to centralize import, export, and transit documentation, streamlining processes and enhancing transparency. If successful, it could reduce transaction costs by 25% and boost government revenue by 20%. However, experts warn that Nigeria's history of reform failures highlights the need for robust safeguards.
Key stakeholders, including Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, and Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, MD of the Nigerian Ports Authority, will share insights on transparency and inter-agency collaboration. The seminar will also feature perspectives on the Lagos Free Zone Green Channel initiative.
This event marks a crucial step towards aligning government agencies, private operators, and civil society around a shared vision for a seamless trade ecosystem.
